Judith Hanson Lasater
Judith Hanson LasaterKeynote Speaker=Yoga: A Technology of Compassion
Judith is president emeritus of the California Yoga Teachers’ Association and has been teaching yoga since 1971. In addition to co-founding Yoga Journal magazine, Judith has written eight books on yoga including “Relax and Renew.”, and is the author of numerous articles on yoga and health for nationally recognized magazines.
Ms. Lasater trains yoga teachers in virtually every state in the US, and is often an invited guest at international yoga conventions. She has been a consultant on three National Institute of Health studies on various aspects of yoga. She teaches extensively throughout the United States and internationally.

Jivana Heyman, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, IYM, is the founder of Accessible Yoga, co-owner of the Santa Barbara Yoga Center and an Integral Yoga Minister. With over twenty-five years of training and teaching in a traditional yoga lineage, Jivana has specialized in teaching the subtle practices of yoga: pranayama, meditation, as well as sharing yoga philosophy. His passion is making Yoga accessible to everyone.
Accessible Yoga has grown into an international advocacy and education organization, and now offers two Conferences per year, Trainings around the world, an Ambassador program and online Network.
Jivana has taught with the Dean Ornish Heart Disease Reversal Program through UCSF, California Pacific Medical Center’s Institute of Health and Healing, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He has led over fifty Yoga teacher training programs over the past 20 years, and created the Accessible Yoga Training program in 2007. On December 3rd, 2015, Jivana taught Accessible Yoga at the United Nations in Geneva for their International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Jivana’s strengths are sharing esoteric and complex teachings in an readily accessible way, and applying the ancient teachings of yoga to our day-to-day lives.

Chinamsata StilesYoga Class: Moving from Pain to Ease - restoring the flow of prana
Chinnamasta is the Director of the Shiva Shakti Loka Sanctuary in San Francisco.
The essence of Chinnamasta is her heart-felt and loving presence attained through many years of deep study and practice with gifted Master Teachers in Europe, India and the U.S. over the last 30 years.
While Western medicine taught her how to work with the physical structure, Eastern medicine deepened her understanding of how to help people gracefully deal with difficulty, prevent illness, and live a joy-filled life. Her true gift is the ability to identify the root cause of a disease (physical, eomtional, mental or karmic imbalanes) and understand how these causes can lead to health issues and deep suffering in the individual. She then walks with you, down the path of empowered spirtual healing and physical wellbeing using the breadth and depth of her knowledge and expertise. Ulimately, each will form their own unique and deeply rooted connection to the Inner Source, resulting in long-term restored vitality and wellbeing.
Chinnamasta’s teachings are focused on the Trilogy of Yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra, guiding the person from a yogic multi-dimensional perspective and seeking the root of the pain that prevents them from being connected to their true Self. She blends these three wisdom teachings and adapts to the uniqueness of the person as taught by Sri Krishnamacharya. She always seeks where the body is opening naturally, so one expands from that sense of spaciousness and experiences freedom from pain in the body, mind and heart. The final goal is to guide somebody back home to their heart where they allow themselves to rest within the Self.
The four books that are used in her teachings are written by her Beloved Mukunda Stiles: Patanjali Yoga Sutras’s as rendered by Mukunda Stiles, Structural Yoga Therapy, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy and Tantra Yoga Secrets. This last book was greatly influenced by the personal experience of the tantric relationship Mukunda and Chinnamasta lived in the body. For four years, Chinnamasta dedicated herself to guiding her beloved Mukunda during his illness, beyond his last breath in February 18th, 2014. This experience has been life transforming and opened the gate to Grace, Inner Wisdom and Bliss.
The radiating ojas one experiences in her presence is the merging of Chinnamasta and her beloved Mukunda, who continue to be One, beyond the physical body.
Chinnamasta received Shaktipat into the lineage of Baghavan Nityananda through Mukunda. Shaktipat also would happen spontaneiously through meditation on the image of Bhagavan given to her by her Ayurvedic guru teacher Baba Biharilal.
Her Dharma is to continue to share the legacy of his teachings and to serve others in Deep Healing through the Triology of Yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra in personal sessions and group settings.
PUBLICATIONS Chinnamasta is the editor of Tantra Yoga Secrets by Mukunda Stiles. Together they wrote the chapter Structural & Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy in the new comprehensive book Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine. This book shows how to evaluate yourself or a client using several methods, a series of joint freeing exercises which can assess for normal flexibility, asana kinesiology of 24 foundational poses, musculoskeletal anatomy charts, pranayama guidelines, how to use Yoga therapeutically with case studies sampling from 10,000 cases covered since Mukunda Stiles created the method in 1976. Chinnamasta has published several articles on nutrition in the Light of Ayurveda magazine, US and The International Yoga Therapy Light magazine, Australia.

Baxter, MD, C-IAYT, eRYT 500, is a physician, medical acupuncturist, yoga therapist and yoga teacher. By combining his deep knowledge of anatomy and medicine with an expertise in helping people of all ages and physical conditions, Baxter teaches a healing, nurturing style of hatha yoga that balances the body’s desire for action with the mind’s need for calm and quiet. In addition to teaching classes, workshops, and retreats internationally, Baxter helps students use yoga to help heal from and/or cope with a wide range of medical conditions. The cofounder of and a writer for the popular blog Yoga for Healthy Aging, he regularly presents at Yoga Journal conferences and at the International Association of Yoga Therapy’s SYTAR Conference. He has also written articles for Yoga Journal and the International Journal of Yoga Therapy, and is featured in Yoga for Stress, a Yoga Journal DVD. He is quoted as a yoga and health expert by the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, among others.
Swami Ramananda

Swami Ramananda is the Executive Director of the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco and a greatly respected senior teacher in the Integral Yoga tradition, who has been practicing Yoga for over 40 years. Ramananda offers practical methods of integrating the timeless teachings and practices of Yoga into daily life, and transforming the painful aspects of human experience into steps toward realizing one’s full potential. ¶ He leads beginner, intermediate and advanced level yoga teacher training programs in San Francisco, and offers a variety of programs in many locations in the U. S., Europe and South America. Ramananda is a certified Yoga therapist and trains Yoga teachers to bring Yoga into corporate, hospital and medical settings, and has taught mind/body wellness programs in many locations. He is a founding board member of the Yoga Alliance, a national registry that supports and promotes yoga teachers as professionals. His warmth, wisdom and sense of humor have endeared him to many.

Judy Hubbell (Mirabai) presently teaches Accessible Yoga, T’ai Chi Chih, Breath and Vocal Resonance to seniors through City College of San Francisco’s Mind Body classes (Older Adults Department). She sees her work as that of helping others develop the connection between the breath, body, and mind by bridging various modalities. The power of feeling the resonant voice is felt through the connection to the exhale, using the ancient principles of classical singing or the 6 Healing Sounds from T’ai Chi Chih. By learning how to use the diaphragmatic breath, students learn more fully the power of ancient yoga pranayama practices, the possibility of moving with the breath in 3 basic weight shifts, and the power of the “Energy Sea” at the T’an Tien. Expansion, contraction, and empowerment of students as well as calmness are the aims of her teaching. Exploring the lines of energy in the body, and how we can learn to control that energy are her lifelong passion, and lead to the inner understanding that makes every day with students and others an exploration.
Judy’s work is dedicated to help others more fully express their innermost joy, and her teaching grounded in her training as a musician, in Hatha Yoga, teaching singing, mountain climbing, and the practice of T’ai Chi Chih. She feels strongly the need to build a community that is diverse in every way possible, and enjoys the yin-yang stresses and resolutions of a long life of teaching and learning. She has maintained a consistent and evolving personal practice of exploration in holistic health modalities and the possibility of exploring many paths of learning beyond Music and Voice. At the same time, she continues to use her BS, MS Degrees in Music/ Voice Juilliard in new ways. Certified in 11 holistic disciplines as a teacher 1986-2106. Mindfulness, Meditation, Raja Yoga, Hatha I, II, III, Therapeutic Yoga, Accessible Yoga, Meditation, Qi Gong, and T’ai Chi Chih are constant draws.
Most recently Judy has been interested in teaching others the possibilities of bridging Eastern practices with Western thought, which includes the art of improvisation and the belief that anything is possible if you dare to think out of the box. She presently serves as Department Chair for the Older Adults Department, which she truly enjoys. We have 21 faculty members in multi disciplines who teach all over San Francisco at senior centers, hospitals, YMCA’s, or at one of our 7 campuses in the city.

JoAnn Lyons
JoAnn LyonsMaking Asana Accessible to All
JoAnn Lyons has been teaching yoga in the disability community since 1996 and believes that everyone, regardless of physical challenges, can practice yoga. She continues training teachers to encourage others to join her in this work because she believes yoga classes should be available to all. JoAnn has a unique way of presenting her work to teachers that inspires and encourages the teacher to be confident in working with this under-served population.
Priya Wagner

Patrice Priya Wagner, RYT 500, C-IAYT, has taught people with disabilities since 2008 and currently offers a class specifically for people with Multiple Sclerosis in Oakland, California. Priya is trained in Accessible Yoga (AY), Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga, iRest Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Gentle Yoga, and Raja Yoga. She assisted with AY conferences in Santa Barbara in 2015, 2016, co-presented at the 2017 New York AY conference, and recently joined the AY Board of Directors. Priya brings to her teaching a focus on mindfulness and meditation to develop peace of mind both inside and out of the studio.
Skyler Myers
Skyler Myers Yoga and Ayurveda for Trauma Recovery
Skyler Myers, CAS, PKS, YACEP, CMT She studied over 3500 hours in yoga, massage, and Ayurvedic Health Care over 10 years. She has taught yoga for 15 years to thousands of students, and taught Yoga Alliance registered teacher trainings. In healing from her own trauma and addiction through yoga and Ayurveda, she now focuses on bringing her system to Behavioral and Mental Health clients, and women in local shelters. She currently teaches at a Cal-WORKs (Welfare) program, and has developed a 16 week curriculum to reduce relapse and recidivism through Sierra County Drug Court and Western Sierra Medical Clinic.
Mary-Jo Fetterly

Mary-Jo Fetterly is a mother of two a Yoga Teacher/Therapist and President of Trinity Yoga Inc. She began her formal training in Iyengar yoga in the mid 80’s, while raising children and studying psychology. In 1995, she received a “Body Centered Therapy”certificate in massage and Somatic based bodywork. She went on to train with Dr. Carolyn Myss who is now one of the leading educators in the field of energy anatomy and intuitive medicine; and then David Swenson, Tim Millar & Ana Forest in the early rise of Ashtanga or hot yoga. Subsequently, she opened “Shanti Yoga Works”, the first yoga studio to be established in Nelson, BC. During the first operational years of the Shanti Yoga studio, Mary-Jo developed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program, and formed the company “Trinity Yoga”, which has trained hundreds of teachers since its inception.
On January 25 2004, Mary-Jo had a skiing accident that crushed her C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae and left her paralyzed from the neck down. She was diagnosed with Quadriplegia-complete, a “worst case diagnosis” predicted by doctors. Her journey back to health and coping with her current situation – defied odds, is a miraculous recovery due to hard work, faith, knowledge, insight, determination, and strong willed optimism. Mary-Jo has continued her studies in Somatic Psychotherapy, Yoga therapy and advanced teacher training. She is a student at the University of Waterloo, completing a Social Work Degree. She has been a long time student of Yogarupa Rod Stryker the esteemed North American Tantra master, with whom she is currently working on her master teacher training with.
The devastation, difficulties and challenges of the spinal cord injury haven’t held her back as Mary-Jo continues to mother, teach and inspire others to engage in their own personal journeys of healing and transformation “Since my injury 11 years ago I have been teaching in and around Vancouver initially as my old “teacher” self and slowly but surely I have become very compelled and moved by what yoga can do for all people in every different physical or mental capacity.” Mary-Jo is a leader in the area of Adaptive and Therapeutic Yoga and was a guest at last years International Conference SYTAR. She has been an Ambassador at the Rick Hansen Foundation for 8 years and now serves on their Consumer Advisory Board. From 2004 through to 2008 she served on Yoga Outreach board. She has developed ART – Adaptive/Restorative/Therapeutic training for community health care professionals and yoga teachers, a hands on ‘learn from one who knows’ professionally credited CEU. “Kerri believes the heart of a yoga practice is the art of acceptance, of ourselves and others. It’s her belief that yoga is for everyone – all ages, all abilities, all body shapes and sizes – that sparked her to partner with Maura to open Yoga Home.
Kerri has always possessed a strong sense of nurturing and an abundance of compassion for others, but with yoga she learned to be compassionate with herself. Her classes are filled with inspiration, empowerment and gratitude.
 As her personal yoga practice has evolved, she’s come to listen to her body and spirit and see what type of practice she needs that day and encourages her students to do the same. Whether she’s teaching an invigorating Power Class or soothing body and soul with a Restorative Class, Kerri prioritizes holding sacred space so her students are free to completely drop into their practice.
She is passionate about bringing Adaptive Yoga to the Philadelphia region, and credits her son, Sean, with being her inspiration. She created Yoga Home’s Adaptive Yoga program with classes for children and adults with physical, cognitive and/or emotional disabilities at Yoga Home, at schools, day and residential programs. She also leads the Yoga for Caregivers Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Kerri is Co-Executive Producer of “On the Other Side of the Fence”, the international award winning documentary that spreads the message of acceptance and diversity. Recognized by the United Nations for Extraordinary Public Service, Gold Medalist at the New York International Film Festival and Emmy Winner, the film chronicles relationships between children with different abilities as they stage a musical.
Kerri also serves as an Ambassador for Accessible Yoga and lululemon. She brings her 20+ years experience in Consumer Insight, Marketing and Development, most recently with PBS and NPR, to the world of yoga. Her focus is on building community – be it through public media, celebrating all individuals for their unique contributions, teaching yoga classes or creating the sacred space of Yoga Home.

Rose Kress, ERYT-500, LFYP-2, CIAYT, YACEP, Director of LifeForce Yoga, has been a student of yoga since 1994. She began studying with Amy Weintraub in 2002 as a means of finding ease from anxiety and chronic pain. After becoming certified to teach yoga, Rose began assisting Amy at workshops and the LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Training. Rose is now the owner and director of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute. She is also the author of 2 CDs, Mantra Chanting with Rose and Pathways to Relaxation.
Rose focuses on the therapeutic aspects of yoga – for the body, mind and soul. She integrates LifeForce Yoga techniques into therapeutic yoga for those suffering from back pain, cancer, pulmonary disease, structural issues, and chronic pain. Rose maintains a class schedule and private yoga therapy practice in Tucson, AZ, where she lives with her husband.
Rose considers herself a life long student of yoga, yoga philosophy, and the body. Since 2007 she has studied asana, subtle body, the yoga sutras, and yoga philosophy with Rama Jyoti Vernon and has taught at several of Rama’s retreats. Shawnee is a C-IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist, 500 E-RYT and RCYT (Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher). She is the Founder/Owner of ABLE Yoga Therapy and Founder/Owner of Asanas for Autism and Special Needs. Shawnee has a Master’s in Special Education and has worked as a Behavior Specialist/Consultant for over a decade. She authored the Book Asanas for Autism and Special Needs – Yoga to Help Children with Their Emotions, Self-Regulation and Body Awareness and developed the C.A.L.M.M Yoga Toolkit to provide a tool for teaching yoga to children of diverse abilities. She has a Yoga School through Yoga Alliance and trains others throughout the US and internationally in teaching yoga to children with diverse abilities. Mary Gengler Fuhr, OTR/L, RYT, C/NDT, CIMI: Mary is an Occupational Therapist and founder of Maple Valley Pediatric Therapy and Relaxing Resources, PLLC. She has over 30 years of experience as a pediatric OT with expertise in sensory integration/processing, neurodevelopmental treatment, pediatric massage and yoga for children. She is co-author of the book, ‘Pediatric Massage for the Child with Special Needs”. Mary teaches workshops on a number of topics (including yoga, movement and mindfulness, and self-regulation) and provides therapeutic consultations throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Brenda Bakke, MEd, PT, CYT, C-IAYT : Brenda is an experienced pediatric physical therapist who has practiced for over 30 years in a variety of settings. She is a Registered Adult Yoga teacher & Certified Children’s Yoga Therapist who has trained with Sonia Sumar, creator of Yoga for the Special Child. She is contributing author of the book “Healing Practices to Help Kids Grow up Easier”. Brenda teaches workshops on a number of topics (including accessible yoga, movement and mindfulness, and self-regulation). Brenda has her Master’s degree in education, is a certified Accessible Yoga Teacher, and has extensive training in Yoga Therapy. She currently works in a school district & private practice.
Melanie Klein
Melanie Klein Yoga and Body Image Coalition
Melanie Klein, M.A., is a writer, speaker, and professor of Sociology and Women’s Studies at Moorpark College in Ventura County, CA. Her areas of interest and specialty include media literacy education, body image, and the intersectional analysis of systems of power and privilege. She is the co-editor of Yoga and Body Image: 25 Personal Stories About Beauty, Bravery + Loving Your Body (Llewellyn, 2014) with Anna Guest-Jelley, a contributor in 21st Century Yoga: Culture, Politics and Practice (Horton & Harvey, 2012), is featured in Conversations with Modern Yogis (Shroff, 2014), a featured writer in Llewellyn’s Complete Book of Mindful Living (Llewellyn, 2016) and co-editor of the new anthology, Yoga, the Body and Embodied Social Change: An Intersectional Feminist Analysis with Dr. Beth Berila and Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts (Rowman and Littlefield, 2016). She co-founded the Yoga and Body Image Coalition in 2014. She has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1996 and currently lives in Santa Monica, CA.
Zubin Shroff

Zubin is the Director of Piedmont Yoga. He has been practicing yoga for much of his life, starting with instruction from his grandfather, as well as from his mother, and family in India. As Piedmont Yoga’s Director, he spearheads the studio’s outreach program to Oakland schools and healthcare centers and is committed to bringing yoga to underserved communities and to Oakland’s diverse population and to communities nationally. Zubin is also the creator of the book Conversations with Modern Yogis.
